Family Houston Joins Houston Food Bank’s CORE Community Resource Center
New Northwest Houston facility will bring together food assistance and community-based services to support families across the region
Houston, TX – September 2, 2026 – Family Houston is proud to join Houston Food Bank and a network of community partners as part of CORE by Houston Food Bank, a new community resource center designed to connect individuals and families with food assistance and other essential services that support long-term stability.
Houston Food Bank officially broke ground on CORE on September 1. The approximately 310,000-square-foot facility will be located on 52 acres near TX-249 and Ella Boulevard in Northwest Houston. The expansion is designed to increase Houston Food Bank’s distribution capacity, strengthen emergency response capabilities and create a centralized location where families can access a range of community resources.

“We’re excited to work alongside Houston Food Bank and fellow community partners through CORE to help create pathways toward greater stability and stronger futures for families across our region.”
Family Houston is among the community partners currently announced for the new campus, joining organizations across health care, legal assistance, education, recreation and social services.
CORE represents the largest strategic expansion in Houston Food Bank’s history. In addition to expanded food distribution and cold-storage capacity, the campus is planned to include health resources, nonprofit service partners, volunteer space, a community lobby, food hall, commercial kitchen and conference center.
The facility will support Houston Food Bank’s 18-county service area, where the organization currently serves more than one million neighbors annually. Initial operational capacity at CORE is anticipated to launch in 2028.
Family Houston looks forward to working alongside Houston Food Bank and its fellow community partners as CORE takes shape and creates new opportunities for families to access resources in one convenient location.
