Youth On The Move
"Youth on the Move helped me see my strengths and turn them into real opportunities."
- Kyren Jackson
After relocating to Houston from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, Kyren faced instability and homelessness by age 18. Through Youth on the Move, he built a personal budget, attended employment and financial workshops, enrolled in free cybersecurity training with edX/Verizon and United Way, and registered with Work Texas.
With Family Houston's support for transportation, communication, and digital tools, he secured a role with Harris Health's HR department while continuing at the Toyota Center. Today, Kyren also partners with youth organizations as a speaker and recruiter, using his journey to inspire others while building a strong career foundation.
